Vic: Murder suspect dodged noose for 1968 killing: reports

A man being hunted following a brutal killing in the Melbourne suburb of Frankston
.. is reported to have narrowly escaped being sentenced to death over the stabbing murder
of his teenage girlfriend in 1968.

News Limited and Fairfax websites have reported LEIGH ROBINSON was sentenced to death
for fatally stabbing his 17-year-old girlfriend 16 times in the heart.

The death sentence was commuted to 30 years' jail with a minimum of 20 years in 1969.

Victoria Police have announced they're looking for ROBINSON over the murder of 33 year
old TRACEY GREENBURY .. who was shot dead on a neighbour's front doorstep about 9am (AEST)
yesterday.

Police have refused to confirm ROBINSON's record.
