Vic: Australian woman murdered in Paris, report

A young Melbourne woman on an around-the-world holiday has been reportedly strangled
to death in Paris.

The body of the 28-year-old woman was found in her sleeping bag dumped a carpark in
the suburb of Mureaux, according to a report in Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper.

The paper says she was last seen boarding a train on her way to a New Year's Eve party,
and her body was discovered two days later.

It says the dead woman's mother was too distraught to speak at length yesterday.

A post mortem examination showed the woman had been strangled, and her body is yet
to be released for burial in Australia.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs says the embassy in Paris is closely following
police investigations.
